After a couple of weeks full of studying for my exams, I finally had enough spare time to write another review on my blog. This lipstick has been in my makeup stash for, like, 3 months. I would admit that I impulsively bought this lipstick. I had no idea why I needed to buy it since at that time I actually had like 4 red lipsticks. I just felt that I had to buy it.
Talking about the brand, Clinique is well known for its skin care range and I don’t know that it has the makeup products as well. The truth is, I never set my eyes on any Clinique products because it is way too expensive for my pocket.
Okaaaay, enough with the bull…
FYI, the one that I have is the travel size so it is smaller than the full size. I don’t mind buying the full size ones, but the problem is I tend to get bored and get distracted with other shades easily. The Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm I’ve got is in #03 Mightiest Maraschino. It has a very bright red, almost like a cherry red. I’ll explain more later and here’s the product description.
Product Description:
Tempt lips with a soft cushion of colour that’s not quite sheer, not quite opaque-just the perfect happy medium. Loaded with mango and shea butters so lips feel comfortably soft and smooth. Eight vibrant shades in all.
How To Use:
Apply directly to lips.
For subtle definition, outline lips first, then fill in with natural-looking colour.
Never needs sharpening, simply swivel up to reveal more lip colour balm.
Now let’s talk about the packaging. Since mine is in travel size one, so I don’t have the box package. The product itself has a similar packaging with other crayon lip balm. It’s ‘chubby’ and it’s got a silver base and transparent cap that you can see through. Again, just like other crayon lip balm, it’s got a twist mechanism so that you needn’t sharpened it.
Though it’s ‘chubby’, but it’s not that big (especially the travel size one) so it will fit perfectly on your makeup case. My only downside of the packaging is the cap. I always try to put the cap back carefully, but I still scratch the lip balm (oh no!). It’s because you can’t twist the entire lip balm. It also happens to my other crayon lip balms.
How about the colour? As I mentioned before, it has a very bright, vibrant red colour. I think it’s a blue-based colour, so likely to make your teeth whiter (yeeay! I admit I’ve got stain on my teeth because of tea and coffee). Although it is called a lip colour balm, the intensity of the colour is superb! With only one single swipe, you already can see the colour. It is definitely very pigmented and build-able. It gives you from medium to full coverage on your lips.
It’s got a satin-finished look once you apply it, but the gloss will gradually disappear after a couple of hours (which I don’t mind at all). It also leaves a very nice stain on my lips after using it for more than 5 hours. The great thing about this lip crayon is it is REALLY MOISTURIZING! I haven’t had any chapped lips while using this so far. Awesome!
Back to the colour, this kinda red colour is suitable for every skin tone, so be brave to use it ladies! Let’s take a look of some of my photos with the product.
Finally, this is my final verdict…
What I love about this product:
It is very moisturizing, no chapped lips!
Travel friendly with the sleek packaging
Easy application
Great staying power (+/- 5 hours or so)
It leaves a nice stain on lips
Awesome pigmentation
The colour suits most skin tones
What I don’t like:
A bit expensive (for me)
Availability (apparently you can only buy it on Clinique stores)
Can melt and break since it is quite soft
Overall rating:
4.5/5
Yes, this product is quite expensive (especially the full size ones), but it is totally worth-paying with all the benefits and great colour. I haven’t decided whether I would like to buy it again or not, but I do recommended this for everyone who love vibrant colour without drying your lips. At last, I’ll give you extra photos (duh!) of me with this chubby lip balm. Enjoy!
Love,
